We discussed the theatre paper, which is due one week after we attend the theatre performance (Oct. 22). The assignment sheet is posted at the Student Links page.
After reading the assignment, we voted on what night to see the play. The class decided on seeing the play October 15. We will meet at 7 because the play will go about 80" longer than the class time. We will meet in the regular classroom first and go over to the play 45" later.
Next we did the critical thinking quiz on Fox News. The quiz doesn't count on the grade but it served as a way to discuss some of the concepts introduced by the DVD. In addition, it showed students what type of questions the instructors asks on quizzes. It also shows the protocol for how we grade papers in class.
After the quiz, we went around the room and students read their working thesis statement.
We went into peer group reading sessions for Point One. Students who did not have their paper have to write a total of four pages next week. We will probably do peer readings again next week. The instructor will return Point One next week.
The last item on the agenda was to correct the Annotated Works Cited page.
To do for next week:
Write two more pages on research paper (Pt 2)
Correct Annotated Works Cited to turn in for a grade
Read through chapter five in Lester and Langan. There will be a Langan check and points will be given for having the assignment completed.
Read half the drama terms and know them. Possible quiz.
Read the other half of "How Drama Works." It will be posted at the Student Links page by Saturday.
