In the first half of the class, we looked at the long sales letters. One was an example of a student's work and the other examples were from the Kennedy book. After this discussion, the instructor collected the students' sales letter outlines. Prior to collecting them, however, each person critiqued a colleague's letter based on what they learned from the instructor's discussion.
Students also turned in their final market research questionnaires for a grade.
The instructor returned newspaper ads with comments. The ads are to be finished and turned in for a final grade next week.
The instructor passed out the three-ring binders for making the portfolio.
In the second half of the class, we studied the Unique Selling Proposition. The instructor went through a Powerpoint and the students had a worksheet that helped them write a USP. After doing the worksheet, the instructor made copies so the student could work from the USP for ongoing projects.
Next week:
Oct. 28--final newspaper ad
Nov. 4-final version of sales letter is due
Reading: Kennedy, 147-206
Instructor will issue deadline dates for the remaining projects of the portfolio.
