Notification

To My Students:

I received word that my father has passed away. He died around 3 today.

I don't expect this to interfere with turning in grades, but I will be leaving the state for about a week. I expect to leave on Friday.

Speech 1402 Final

Choose one of the two following questions:

1.     Evaluate a colleague’s speech on the points listed below. You must quote the text using MLA style documentation. You do not need to include a Works Cited, but state which edition of the book you are using. Use the index to locate the sections of the text necessary to do this evaluation.

Introduction
Speech Anxiety
Eye contact
Rhetorical sensitivity
Conclusion

Alternate question:

What are the major differences between a persuasive speech and an informative speech. Use the Monroe Motivated Sequence as your basis for comparison with the persuasive speech. You should consult the two text chapters for informative and persuasive speeches. There needs to be a minimum of six in-text citations.
Write approximately two pages.

Advertising 3765 Mon-Wed

At our last class, we looked at the remaining commercials. Students talked about how they produced their commercial.

The instructions for the final will be posted here tomorrow. The final can't be done now as there is prep work to do for a Dreamweaver class.

Writing 102 Tues-Thurs

Aaron gave his poetry roundtable.

The instructor went over the elements the paper had to have. Students are to bring their paper and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of their paper. At our next class, students may come anytime between 4-5:15 to turn in the paper. If students come early, the instructor will look the paper over and give last-minute corrections, so bring your USB drive.

Dreamweaver Classes 6 & 7

We did the images chapter (6) and did the tutorial  from pages 251-61. We started on an image map but didn't complete it. We will finish it at our next class. The instructor asked the students to go to this link:

 Jayson's Mother's Day E-mail Newsletter

We did a "view source" and looked at how the hotspots were placed on the page.

For our next class, students should read Ch. 8, Advanced CSS and half of Ch. 9, Page Layout (through Absolute Positioning).
--------------------

Wed. a.m., 10:45:  I called media services and they put in a request to have someone come to our room and make sure the projector works.

We do have a break in our classes!  This will be terrific for people who want to spend a little more time on D'weaver before going into Flash. We will talk about when to schedule our makeup class(es) on Wed.  Here are the dates for the remaining classes:

Flash, 6-9, June 7-July 7
Web Hosting and Management, 6-8, July 17-July 28
Search Engine Optimization, 6-9, Aug. 2-Aug. 4

-----------------

We will be doing the tables tutorial on Tuesday night.

Be sure to bring your CSS book, as I want to make reference to inheritance, descendent selectors, etc., and I want students to relate it back to what we covered in CSS.

I have made copies of the CS4 version of the exercises for the foreseeable future.
