Monday:
First we talked about the move from reading the Arens text to the Kennedy text. The instructor highlighted the reading for the week, which is about 100 pages. It "goes quickly," however, as one student commented.
Next the instructor talked about trading area surveys. She told how McDonald's does them and why. How McDonalds uses the data was also discussed: driving the area, putting up outdoor boards, targeting a competitor, etc.
The class worked on an exercise using the zip code map where we each entered our zip code. She then directed students to the links in this blog post. Students looked up information and entered it on a document. At a future class, we will analyze the data.
At the end of class, the instructor handed back the market research questionnaires. Students are to revise them and bring them in for a final grade October 15.
To do:
revise questionnaire
read Kennedy (see syllabus for exact pages) and pay particular attention to the apartment example
Be sure you've read through Ch. 6 in Arens Oooops. Error. I remember now that we substituted Ch. 12 for Ch. 6. So just read Ch. 12, not 6.
