ENG102 1:25 and 2:30 p.m. classes

 Fri., Sept. 20:

Discuss the writing of the paper. Show students past poetry papers. Discuss the multimedia aspect of the poetry assignment.

Some tips on writing the paper that is due Monday:

  • Report more on the world events (to which the genre responds) and the psychology of the people in the movement than the history of the movement.
  • Yes, the history is interesting, but avoid long lists of names. If you are going to discuss other poets in the genre, do so with some additional information about who they are and why they were attracted to the movement
  • Spare us long lists of the names of poems and when the dates they were written.
  • If you are writing about a form or technique, do provide examples of the metre or rhyme. Add examples

2:30 class:  we did introductions. We will continue with intros on Friday, in addition to a further discussion of the requirements of the paper
