We checked in research for the theory. Students rec'd two points for each piece of research.
We read a theory paper and critiqued it:
Students made observations:
1. She's very detailed with both theory and movie
2. Paper is in MLA style and we are doing APA
3. Describes the theory and then applies it to the movie
4. She synthesizes well, bringing points from movie description and theory together
5. Difficult to read. Students had trouble getting past the first page.

We went over the theory paper assignment sheet. In the section where students present a brief recap of their theory, we are taking a multimedia approach. Students may do a brief speech, a Powerpoint, or a movie.
We decided on dates due: the paper will be due on April 21 and the presentations will be due on Apr. 28 & May 5.

We covered some Chapter 3 points. We discussed the concept of "salience" and examined people (public figures) who have salience by examining recordings on youtube. Students named people who they thought had salience. An example is Mr. Bean. Others who were named were Adolph Hitler and Bella Lugosi. On the recordings, we examined why the individual had salience.
After discussing salience, we did an experiential learning exercise called "I Think I Know You." The point of the exercise was to get students to think about the basis they used for their decisions in answering the questions. Were the perceptions accurate? How does one feel about how the partner answered? What does this activity exemplify in terms of chapter concepts?
Next week we will check the workbook and all four chapters should be completed.
