 Thursday:

The instructor showed students the difference in graphic file formats:  bitmap and vector. She explain pixels and why print needs a higher resolution than digital. Students did paired introductions

At our next class, the editor of The Tower will speak and so will Eileen R., the administrator for The Tower.

Assignment
1.    Interview your partner and write a 3-4 minute introduction speech before Thursday’s class. Use the questions on the reverse of this assignment sheet. Come prepared to deliver at the next class. Type (double space) an outline based on what you learned about informative speaking in 1402. At the top of the outline, entitle it “(Your name interviewing your partner’s name). Outlines will be turned in and will not be returned. Practice the introduction at least once.
2.    Read the graphic file handout. When you visit various web sites, take a look at the photo file types (right clickview image info  in Firefox). Note the sizes of the photographs and the file types. Try to find a .jpg, a .gif and a .png. Do you notice that certain files are used under certain types of circumstances? Check a variety of sites.
3.    Reading assignment is Ch. 2, “Identity and Image Strategy”
