Speech Critical 1402 Tuesday-Friday

At our first meeting today, we read the syllabus and completed it through "written." We will finish it at our next session on Friday.

The instructor handed out a list of items for our first speech, which is an introduction speech. At our next class, we will interview each other and each person will introduce their partner to the class.

We discussed the book. Students have a week to get the book and if ordering online, should print out a copy of their order and keep it in their notebook in the event that the book does not arrive on time. The date of order should be circled. The date should be January 18.

The current edition is the eighth. The name of the book is Communications Making Connections by Seiler.

Here are some options for obtaining the book:

Rent 8th edition from Chegg for $36.49; comes with 21-day "any reason" guarantee (full refund minus shipping).

Eighth edition e-textbook (downloadable) for $44.40 at coursesmart.com.

Eighth edition at Amazon for $74.30, used at $57.50

Order book

Read Ch. 8 online. Note:  I cannot find the sample chapter the publisher previously had posted. I did, however, find this Powerpoint presentation which is based on Chapter 8. Please go through this presentation so you have the information you'll need for upcoming classes next week.

Make a folder on your computer for 1402 Speech. Download the syllabus and file it there (link above).
