Ways to Sell a Tower Ad

We went over the above handout. Students are to work 1-2 hours per week to sell an ad for The Tower. Efforts will be recorded in class. The handout gives students ideas and ways to try to accomplish this task. Students will be asked to report on the progress for this assignment by writing for five minutes at each class.

The instructor showed students how to do print layouts from the standpoint of an account executive. The assignment is to find an ad and do the layout. We will look at student work at our next class by putting it on the overhead projector.

In addition, at our next class we will go over the rate card and The Tower deadlines. The instructor will bring a flyer that tells about the coupon special.

Students are also to read the chapter (7 in 9th ed) on print copywriting. In addition, Ch. 8 on layouts will also be helpful to read. (note that these chapters are listed later on the reading schedule. If you read them now, you will only have to review them later)

Note:  when doing your layout, do only the text box on the computer. The rest of the assignment needs to be done by sketching in with a pencil.
