ENG 102 Saturday 9-12:15 a.m.
Students turned in one page of their Shakespeare paper.
We had three poetry roundtables: Clercified, whose roundtable was on "Ai (Anthony Florence)," who wrote dramatic monologue, Zieronda, on Blues Poetry and Langston Hughes, and Nadia, whose roundtable was on cinquain and Crapsey.
We went to the lab to work on transitions and subheads for the three points of the research paper. The instructor distributed a handout and explained transitions. We first wrote transitions between the three points and then we went back and wrote transitions into the paragraphs. All transitions were highlighted and the three points were given to the instructor at the conclusion of class.
Next week in class the instructor will return the three points. We will write the introduction and conclusion in class. Some students may have to write a "definitions" section. This will be determined when the instructor reads this week's papers.
To Do for Next Week:
Gloria and Ada will give their poetry roundtables.
Read pages 121-27 in Lester. This covers introductions and conclusions. We will write the intro and conclusion in class.
The Shakespeare papers will be returned and students will have an idea where to take their paper for its final revision.

Conflict Resolution Problem
Instructions: write an answer and post it to the column.
I've been seeing someone for about two months. He still talks with his ex-girlfriend's best friend, Mida, and I haven't really thought much about this relationship...until the other day.
I dropped in,unannounced, and he was on the phone with Mida. They talked for about 20 minutes while I was there, but I'm not sure what they talked about, because he went outside to talk soon after I arrived.
When he came back inside, he said nothing specific about their conversation. He just started cooking dinner and watching TV. I pretended as though this didn't bother me, but over the poast few days it has been really eating at me. Am I doing the right thing by not making a big deal out of this? What should I do?

The instructor handed back the Shakespeare papers with comments. The next step on this paper is to revise, correct, add internal text citations, and a Works Cited. The Works Cited should have references from the literary databases.
Alicia presented her roundtable on Robert Lowell's "Man and Wife."
Next we worked on research papers. The instructor showed students the purpose of subheads. Students then wrote their subheads into the paper. She handed out a worksheet on transitions. We went through what the purpose of transitions is. Students then wrote the transitions in by hand.
We then went to the lab where each student added their transitions and subheads to their digital copy. All transitions and subheads were highlighted. The instructor will read the papers this week and return them next week. In the next class, we will write the introduction and conclusion. Some papers may call for a definitions section.
